He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Join the East Coast Bays Library team as a Senior Library & Council Services Assistant – Youth in the Upper Habour and Hibiscus Bays South Local Board.
You will be supporting the day-to-day operations of the library service. Serving as a role model in great customer service to people of all ages and backgrounds. You will be engaging with customers in the library, making it easy for them to access the various library resources and services and ensuring that they have an unforgettable experience at the library.
In this role, in collaboration with Senior Librarian Children and Youth, you will have the opportunity to work closely within our local communities through a range of programmes: from children and youth activities in our library to outreach to community groups, local schools and early childhood centres. You will also create and deliver fun and exciting learning programmes and initiatives, both in person and online.
This is a Permanent Part-time, 24-hr position that is based at East Coast Bays Library and includes a weekend day (Sunday). Our libraries are open seven days a week and have a late night at East Coast Bays Library on Thursday, so flexibility around scheduling is required.

We are looking for someone who:
- Is motivated, organised, and able to independently design and deliver creative and engaging youth programmes, displays and resources.
- Is experienced, knowledgeable, and confident in the use of social media to engage with youth.
- Can work with local community groups to co-design new and relevant youth initiatives.
- Has interest in readers advisory especially for parents, children and youth as our customers are passionate readers and users of the library.
- Has a strong people focused, and empathy driven work ethic. Along with a positive attitude, pride in their work and in the ability to influence others positively.
- Has a flexible and collaborative approach to work, excellent communication, and attention to detail.
- Is resilient, adaptable, reliable and able to foster great relationships within the team and across the local board.
- Has demonstrated experience in customer service.
