An exciting opening is now available for a Senior Library and Council Services Assistant focussing on Children & Youth. This role is based at Glenfield Library, with flexibility to work at the two other libraries in the Kaipatiki local board area (Birkenhead & Northcote). This is a Permanent position, 38 hours per week, including one weekend day.

 

Your duties will include:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Librarian for Children and Youth to create and deliver innovative, engaging programmes and events.
  • Engage with the local community through library activities and outreach sessions at schools, community groups, and early childhood centres.
  • Step into a senior role as needed, supporting day-to-day library operations and providing outstanding customer service.
  • Flexibility required for working days and locations, as Glenfield Library operates 7 days a week.

You will excel at making our customers, library team and stakeholders feel welcomed and emboldened to engage in our busy library space.

 

We are looking for:

  • A resilient all-rounder, who demonstrates initiative and a collaborative approach
  • Experience working with tamariki and rangatahi; involvement in planning and delivering children’s programmes and events is desirable
  • A passion for and commitment to community hauora and wellbeing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong people focus
  • Confidence with technology and ability to support customers with devices and online resources
  • A determined approach to lifelong learning and a willingness to share knowledge and build skills
  • A can-do attitude and a desire to have fun at work!

We would be looking to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of between $65 - $69K dependant on experience.
