Senior Librarian - East Coast Bays

We have a permanent, full time (40 hours per week) vacancy for a Senior Librarian based at East Coast Bays Library. We are open seven days a week, so flexibility around working hours, including weekends and late nights, is required.

East Coast Bays Library is a busy community library serving a diverse community. We are looking for a proactive and flexible all-rounder, with leadership experience to join us and contribute to building a strong cohesive team who provides outstanding customer service. The role will form part of the leadership team in the day-to-day running of the library service, enabling innovative programmes and events and supporting team members.
You will provide operational leadership and back up to the manager in one of the busiest libraries in Auckland. You will take responsibility for overseeing daily branch operations and leading the team, working to build a strong team identity and culture. Two key aspects of this role are to model both excellent customer service and interpersonal skills for kaimahi, the aim being to provide and help foster a sense of belonging in our library space for all people.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- High personal resilience and de-escalation skills
- Great leadership with strong communication skills
- Attention to detail and excellent time management and organisational skills
- Willingness to develop leadership and coaching skills
- The ability to develop stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively
- Able to support kaimahi to deliver excellent service to customers to successfully use information resources and devices
- Passionate about making a difference in the community
- Willingness to work across the local board team (East Coast Bays & Albany Libraries) to facilitate design and delivery of innovative programmes and events.
- LIANZA professional registration is required.
