An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Senior Librarian - Children and Youth to join the Kaipātiki Local Board, based in Birkenhead Library. This is a permanent position working 38 hours per week, including one weekend day.

A champion for literacy and learning, the Senior Librarian – Children and Youth is responsible for delivering responsive and engaging programmes and events for tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau. This role is vital for connecting young people with our library; our goal is that young people can have fun, learn, and thrive through the services and programmes that we offer. This role also supports the day-to-day running of the library, providing leadership, opportunities for collaboration, and mentoring to staff in the team and across the local board.

• Build and maintain relationships with young people and their whānau, schools, pre-schools, and stakeholders
• Plan, design, and facilitate relevant and engaging programmes and events for tamariki and rangatahi
• Provide strong leadership; be the senior on-site and have the capability, capacity, confidence, and resilience to lead and delegate where needed
• Champion literacy and provide strong readers advisory for tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau
