We are seeking engineers with knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and Local Government Act, along with practical site experience on land development projects across New Zealand. We are currently looking for a Senior Land Development Engineer (Civil Engineer) with the right expertise and a proactive mindset to contribute to this important work. This is a permanent full - time opportunity for a based in Albany or Henderson.

 

Join Auckland Council’s Regulatory Engineering Department in providing essential civil engineering expertise to our Building and Resource Consenting departments. As a Senior Development Engineer, you can expect to:

 

  • Support the Team Leader with the mentoring and leadership of Development Engineers
  • Provide technical engineering input and guidance on asset approvals, building consents and resource consents (and associated planning applications) 
  • Project management and quality assurance
  • Contribute to improvement of engineering assessments and related approval processes ensuring approvals are in line with Council’s codes of practice, engineering and infrastructure design standards and other relevant frameworks
  • Assess and issue engineering plan approvals, conduct site inspections and vest infrastructure assets for Council’s asset departments.
  • Provide specialist engineering support for regulatory compliance teams to ensure the successful completion and operations of Land use activities.

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

As a Senior Development Engineer you have excellent technical subject matter proficiency as a Land Development Engineer a bonus would be expertise in traffic and transportation engineering or geotechnical experience particularly in the resource consenting area. We will also be looking for the following:

 

  • Expert understanding of Regulatory Engineering processes. Follows correct processes and assists others in the team to do so also
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage large and/or complex consent applications with a coordination and project management focus
  • You demonstrate commitment to expand your own engineering knowledge and already mentor and support others
  • Have a positive can-do attitude and shows a high level of commitment to your team environment
  • Held in high regard, you have an excellent reputation with asset groups, planners and/or building consent officers, and external consultants
  • You are proactive and take a lead, showing initiative to that drives improvement to our service delivery
  • You display Council behaviours to the highest standard in your current position. As someone who models the way, you consistently achieve KPIs and are highly productive
  • Have a sound understanding and knowledge of the Resource Management Act, District/Regional Plans, Building Act and Local Government Act
  • And have a minimum of 5 years of relevant land development expertise
