He angitūtanga: The opportunity
There are 4x permanent full-time opportunities for Park Rangers who will primarily be based at the various Northern Regional Parks.
As a Park Ranger, you will be responsible for enabling safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences in regional park settings, while conserving and protecting natural and cultural heritage resources.
These are permanent full-time positions, that require working on a 40 hour a weekly rotating roster system, including being available for weekends, public holidays and being on call/stand by.
Day to day you will be expected to:
- Coordinate conservation work and manage relationships with volunteers and stakeholders
- Assist in planning and delivering work programmes, events, and farm-related outcomes
- Support environmental education initiatives, both formal and informal
- Maintain park assets and contribute to operational upkeep
- Engage with visitors, iwi, and community groups to foster strong partnerships

The renumeration range for this role is $65,493 - $ 77,050 depending on skillset and experience

We are looking for a motivated, practical and customer focused individuals, to join the Northern Sector ranger team, who can add value and contribute to a committed team.
We are looking for a proactive and physically fit individuals with a positive attitude and strong practical skills. You’ll have excellent communication and time management abilities and feel confident working independently across diverse projects. Experience engaging with community groups, volunteers, and Mana Whenua is essential.
We are looking for:
- A qualification in land management, conservation and ecology, recreation, tourism, education or agriculture
- 1-2 years’ experience in park operation or another relevant field.
- Relevant licences that support public safety and environmental protection.
- Experience with a range of tools and equipment
- A current and clean NZ driver's license
