He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As part of the Parks & Community Facilities Department, you’ll be working with a diverse team of subject matter experts who are passionate about delivering tangible results for the local community and future generations. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council parks and facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes. This includes across asset maintenance, management and renewals of Parks, Open Spaces, Buildings, Facilities, Conservation Areas and Urban Ngahere (forest).
We have a great opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Area Operations Team in Albany. You’ll lead project teams, including external stakeholders, contractors and consultants, to deliver high complexity new capital works and renewal projects, and be responsible for end -to-end project management and delivery, as well as maintaining effective relationships with business owners, customers and project stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
• End to end management and delivery of assigned projects in accordance with Auckland Council policy, frameworks and procedures and industry best practice
• Engaging with other teams during project inception to provide technical advice
• Preparing and maintaining accurate project records, including a project execution plan, financial and timeline plans
• Managing project budgets well and ensuring projects follow predicted business case pathway
• Managing consultants and contractors, and maintain effective relationships with business owners, customers and project stakeholders
He kōrero mōu: About you
As a project manager, alongside your experience in construction site monitoring, you will bring with you experience in capital works project delivery – including renewals projects (at least 5 years). A relevant degree or tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, construction or architecture) will be of advantage.
You’ll be well organised with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, being savvy to deal with ambiguity while making quality decisions in a dynamic challenging environment. It should go without saying that you have the agility to work cross functionally across the unit and other departments while managing a number of diverse projects at the same time.
Alongside a collaborative nature and solid relationship management skills, you’ll bring a clear customer service ethic as well as a sense of personal ownership and responsibility.

Salary range: $110,000 - $116,000
