Interested working with elected members and the community in a role that provides specialist engagement advice to support effective decision making with some hands-on delivery? Local boards are a key part of the Auckland Council governance structure and play a significant role across their communities. Their focus on local matters provides local leadership as well as shapes the local arts and culture, community services, parks and recreation, economic development, the environment, infrastructure, and place making activities. 

 

He angitūtanga: The opportunity 

 

As Local Board Engagement Advisor you will advise local board members and colleagues from the wider Council organisation on best practice engagement, including providing insights into local priorities and concerns, while also bringing localism to regional issues and consultations.

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders from elected members to community groups. We are looking for someone who is tertiary qualified and has a background in public participation and community engagement, community development, marketing, or communications, preferably within a political environment. 

 

Well-developed administration skills and experience in producing high quality written information and correspondence is essential. You will be a problem solver with high attention to detail and time management skills. Experience in working collaboratively across a large organisation and the ability to build strong productive relationships will be critical to your success. Knowledge of local communities would also be beneficial.
