He angitūtanga: The opportunity 

This position is based at the Devonport-Takapuna & Kaipatiki Local Board offices. The Engagement Advisor role is at the centre of supporting both the Devonport-Takapuna and Kaipatiki Local Boards, advising local board members and colleagues from the wider organisation on best practice engagement, including insights into local priorities and concerns, while bringing localism to regional issues and consultations.


The Engagement Advisor is tasked with improving overall participation in local and regional consultations. The role is key to Auckland Council’s commitment to hearing from all parts of our community by increasing participation from those groups we hear from less frequently, especially Māori, Pasifika, Asian, and Youth.

He kōrero mōu: About you

Having initiative and an enthusiasm to work closely with the local board and other council teams to help address issues and aspirations of local communities is at the heart of this role. You will possess the ability to implement engagement strategies for local boards, including strategic advice, planning, budget, and event management. You will also have the ability to work in with partnership across a large organisation, along with Māori communities and diverse groups. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate experience in analysing and interpreting qualitative consultation data and information and will have sound experience in implementing engagement strategies and in community stakeholder management.
