Team Member, Lifeguard
 
Our pool and leisure facilities are more popular than ever, and as a Lifeguard you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers have an enjoyable but safe experience.

 

We have a number of part-time positions available with fixed rosters for shifts that vary over 5 days from Monday - Sunday, and can include early mornings from 5am to late evenings of 10pm, weekends and public holidays.
 
Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing quality supervision to ensure health and safety standards are upheld
  • Providing customers and colleagues with accurate information on pool policies
  • Supporting the delivery of Centre programmes and classes

 
He kōrero mōu: About you
 

Previous experience as a Lifeguard is advantageous, but if you’re a strong swimmer looking to upskill, we can support you with training.

 

Having clear and effective communication skills is key, as is being practically minded and using your initiative where required. 
 

Ideally, you hold a current First Aid Certificate as well as a current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate, however, we can assist you in obtaining these at our cost.

We aim to upskill and progress your career, so if you wish to train and take on other functions within our centres such as Learn to Swim Instructor, Fitness Instructor or Recreation Assistant the opportunity is there! By the same token, if we occasionally need some help in other areas such as on our front desk and general customer service duties, as a team member, you may be called on to cover these areas if short staffed or at peak periods.

 

You can also follow a career path and progress into Lead and Team Leader positions both in part time and full-time positions.

The process:

We will invite suitable candidates for a swim test and an informal chat about shifts etc. If all goes well we will set up a formal interview (usually online) and then into the pre-employment checks phase. It can take up to 2 weeks from the date of your interview through to be being hired. 

  • Swim 200m freestyle in less than 6 minutes 
  • Swim 50m any stroke 
  • Duck, dive and retrieve object from bottom of pool (at 5m depth)
  • Tread water for 5 minutes
