He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our pool and leisure facilities are more popular than ever and as Lifeguard for Takapuna Pool and Leisure Centre, you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers not only have a fantastic experience but a safe one. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing to all pool users with quality supervision to ensure health and safety standards are upheld;
  • Providing customers and colleagues with accurate information on pool policies, Centre facilities, and aquatic safety; and
  • Supporting the delivery of Centre programmes and classes.

It goes without saying that you'll have a passion for aquatics, sharing your knowledge, and experience working with customers. You will be an excellent communicator, mature and committed to make a difference in our local communities while delivering on our dynamic aquatic programmes.


Holding a current First Aid Certificate and a Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate is very advantageous however, if you are a confident swimmer and keen to start a career in our industry, apply now as we can provide you with all you need to be a qualified Lifeguard.

We have a permanent part-time position working 32 hours per week, covering the following shifts: 

  • Monday -Tuesday 1:00pm - 9:30pm
  • Thursday - Friday 5:00am -1:30pm


We also have a permanent part-time position working 8 hours on Saturdays.
