An opportunity has arisen to work as a Library & Council Service Assistant in the Kaipātiki Local Board Libraries, based at Birkenhead Library.

 

Birkenhead Library is a busy community library serving a diverse and vibrant community. Our library whānau is focused on caring for each other, our community, and our environment.

 

We are looking for a flexible all-rounder to join and contribute as part of a high-achieving, cohesive, and dynamic team. You will be supporting the team and contributing to the day-to-day running of the library. As this is a customer service role, you will be serving and supporting customers from all walks of life.

 

The shift pattern for this role is:

Sunday: 9.30 – 16.30

Monday: 08.30 – 17.30

Wednesday: 08.30 – 17.30

Thursday: 08.30 – 17.30

Your natural ability to relate well with people of all ages and backgrounds, excellent communication skills, and strong digital skills will ensure that you are able to successfully engage with our customers and provide excellent customer service. You are eager to learn new skills, enjoy serving customers, and you thrive in a busy work environment.

 
We are looking for someone who:

  • Is positive, energetic, with a can-do attitude where no job is too big or small.
  • Understands and uses technology with confidence, able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices.
  • Is reliable, adaptable and fosters great relationships, positively influencing others within the team.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills with a strong people and empathy focus.
  • Enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills.
  • Has knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Māori or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is highly valued.

The band for this role is Band E we expect to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of from $65,000 – $70,000 depending on skillset and experience.
