He angitūtanga: The opportunity:  

We have a fixed term opportunity and are seeking a resilient and enthusiastic individual to step into the role of Library and Council Services Assistant!

•    Libraries & Council Services Assistant – fixed term, part-time (16 hrs/week) position, finishing 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension. 
•    We are looking for a “Weekend Warrior” to work both Saturday and Sunday, plus a half day during the week. 
•    This role is currently based at Albany Village Library but does require flexibility as you may be working across the Hibiscus Bays South and Upper Harbour Local Board Libraries.

You will have strong people skills and are flexible and adaptable to a library environment. You have a passion for customer service with a positive attitude towards serving people of all ages and backgrounds. You are eager to learn new skills and thrive in a busy work environment.


We are looking for someone who:
•    Has customer service experience.
•    Is collaborative, creative and enthusiastic.
•    Brings a can-do attitude – reliable, full of ideas, and ready to make things happen.
•    Is digitally confident and can support customers to successfully use information resources and devices.
•    Has a strong people focused, and empathy driven work ethic. Along with a positive attitude, pride in their work and in the ability to influence others positively.
•    Is reliable, adaptable and fosters great relationships with the team and our community.
•    Can demonstrate experience working with a diverse range of people.
•    Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills with a strong people focus.
•    Demonstrates an understanding of Te Ao Māori values and principles.

We expect to hire someone between the ranges of $70K-$77K (pro rata), based on experience.
