He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

With our Leisure Centres more popular and busier than ever, our Fitness teams play a vital role in ensuring visitors remain motivated, engaged, and eager to return.

As a Fitness Consultant, you’ll support people to achieve their health and wellbeing goals by delivering tailored fitness programmes for all ages and abilities across our diverse community.

 

This includes writing and delivering individual fitness programmes, ensuring members are using correct workout techniques, and delivering a variety of group fitness classes from BoxFit and HIIT to aqua aerobics alongside your gym floor shifts.

 

This is a 26-hour fixed-term, part-time position until 07/11/2026. Due to the nature of our Leisure Centre operating hours (Monday to Sunday), flexibility is essential. You will be required to work one weekend shift, as well as early mornings and evenings. The working hours are outlined below: 

 

  • Tuesday (5:30am -12pm)
  • Wednesday (5:30am -12pm)
  • Friday (5:30am -12pm)
  • Saturday (7:45am -4:15pm)

It goes without saying that you will bring a genuine passion for fitness, health, and wellbeing, along with the skills and motivation to deliver high-quality programmes and positive client experiences. As part of a proactive and dynamic team, you’ll be confident engaging with clients, contributing ideas, and using your initiative to provide innovative and appropriate fitness solutions while managing your time and administrative responsibilities effectively.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • A recognised fitness-related qualification and the ability to maintain a current REPs certificate and Knowledge of fitness training, including fitness testing, group classes, and client monitoring
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to deliver high levels of client satisfaction
  • An enthusiastic, positive, and dedicated approach with a strong focus on client engagement
  • The ability to work collaboratively as a team player with a flexible mindset
  • Confidence to ask questions, build knowledge, and use initiative to deliver effective fitness solutions
  • Excellent time management skills and confidence with administrative tasks and processes
  • A current First Aid Certificate (training provided)
