Recreation Team Member | Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre
Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre is one of New Zealand’s leading Sports and Rec Facilities, as Recreation Team Member, you will play a key part to improve the customer experience for all Aucklanders that visit our Centre to another level.
You will be making sure that our customers are safe while enjoying their time at our Rock Well. You will also be helping us to deliver an exciting range of community fitness and school holiday programmes. This role will see you working with school students and community groups across the Auckland region.
In this frontline role, your responsibilities will include the following:
- delivering exceptional customer service to our customers and visitors
- supporting with the delivery of a variety of exciting programmes for children aged 5-12,
- helping the centre maintain a caring, fun, and safe fitness and leisure environment,
- helping centre management with administration and operational duties.
- supporting with centre activities including sporting leagues and daily timetabled programmes
- Rock Wall Supervision
- Holiday Programme Supervision
We have a permanent part-time position available at our centre, with the possibility of picking up additional shifts.
The 30 hour shifts:
Tuesday 12:45pm - 9:15 pm, Wednesday 12:45pm - 9:15 pm, Thursday 12:45pm - 9:15 pm, Friday 3:15 pm - 9:15pm
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will be responsible for Rock Wall Supervision, so you need to be comfortable with height.
You will also be:
- passionate about sports and recreation and be ready to step into a frontline customer service role.
- responsible when it comes to working with children.
- have a flexible approach and be able to use your initiative to facilitate suitable programmes for kids.
- be an enthusiastic team player
- have a positive attitude and infectious energy
- be committed to providing your customers with an exceptional experience.
- understand health and safety
- committed to maintaining a high degree of professionalism in your work
You will need a First Aid Certificate, however, we will help you attain this if you do not have one already.
You must have outdoor experience in lending groups or similar experience, and an interest in rock climbing.
This role is suitable for someone who are working or have worked in the outdoor education industry.

Pay rate: $23.65
This position is deemed a safety sensitive position and will require pre-employment drug testing.
