We’re Looking for Land Development Engineers to Help Shape Auckland

Do you have experience in land development and a solid understanding of New Zealand’s regulatory landscape? We’re seeking engineers with working knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and Local Government Act, along with practical site experience on development projects across New Zealand.

Familiarity with Auckland’s Unitary Plan and the Auckland Design Manual (land development codes of practice) would be a strong advantage.

At Auckland Council, we support flexible working arrangements and encourage a healthy work-life balance. If you're ready to take the next step in your career and contribute to Auckland’s future, we’d love to hear from you.

Join our team of Regulatory Engineers who play a crucial role in ensuring Auckland’s growth is supported by high-quality infrastructure. We’re currently looking for a Land Development Engineer (Civil Engineer) with the right expertise and a proactive mindset to contribute to this important work. If you're passionate about engineering and want to be part of a collaborative, supportive team, we’d love to hear from you!

Auckland Council’s Development Engineers provide essential expertise to our Building and Resource Consenting teams, ensuring that new infrastructure is designed and constructed to meet high standards. We work closely with asset owners such as Auckland Transport, Watercare, Healthy Waters, and Parks to support safe and sustainable growth across the region.

From private residential and commercial developments to large-scale subdivision projects associated with Kāinga Ora, our team is involved in a wide range of exciting work. This role offers you the opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge to assess development proposals, building consents, infrastructure works, and engineering approvals.

It’s a fast-paced environment with significant impact. Each year, we oversee the acceptance of over $130 million in new public assets through our engineering approval process.

As part of a large, collaborative team, you’ll gain exposure to diverse projects and work alongside specialists from across Council, the development sector, and Auckland’s leading consultancies. It’s a great opportunity to grow your skills while contributing to the future of our city.
