He angitūtanga: The opportunity

You will be the frontline in protecting our environment and community. This field-based role provides a multi-disciplinary compliance response service covering investigations, resolutions of breaches, remediation activities and enforcement action in relation to Resource Management Act, Building Act, and relevant Bylaws. Your skills in assessing situations and advising customers to help them to achieve compliance are key to creating positive outcomes for Auckland. This role may involve working after hours from time to time.

We have a permanent full-time position and fixed-term full-time position until April 2026, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with on-call work as required. Area is North Auckland and office in Albany.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You’re a confident and professional individual who thrives on being the trusted face of the organisation. With a solid background in regulatory compliance, law enforcement, investigations, or a related field, you bring not only technical expertise but also the interpersonal finesse to navigate complex and sometimes challenging situations. You’re a natural problem solver, skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and building strong, respectful relationships with a wide range of people.

Your communication skills—both written and verbal—are second to none, allowing you to clearly translate legislative requirements to customers and the community. You are inquisitive, calm under pressure, and have proven experience in risk assessment and de-escalation strategies, particularly in environments where public interaction is key.

Ideally, you hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Compliance, Risk Management, Law, or Resource Management, and bring at least two years of experience in regulatory or government settings. You’re confident using Microsoft Office tools and other digital systems, and hold a current New Zealand driver’s licence, ready to take on the field-based nature of the role.
