He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of making Auckland the most active city in the world. We’re currently looking for a Casual Team Member -  Learn to Swim Instructor to join our Pools and Leisure team at Glenfield Pool and Leisure Centre.

 

Day-to-day, you can expect to:

  • Teach the basic principles of swimming (full training will be provided)
  • Maintain a fun, safe, and supportive environment for customers and visitors
  • Be part of a passionate team serving the local community
  • Support the customer service team as required

 Our centre is open seven days a week, so flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and weekends is essential.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you 

 

You will be a confident swimmer and instructor with a genuine love of the water, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. Experience working with children would be an advantage.

 

Based at Glenfield Pool and Leisure Centre, this is a great opportunity to gain a formal qualification while teaching the fundamentals of swimming. You’ll help create a fun, supportive, and safe environment for our customers, with full training provided to support your success.

 

We’re looking for reliable and mature individuals with strong administration and communication skills, and a proven commitment to customer service. This role operates on a variable roster, and you will be required to attend a two-week training programme in late September to early October, running Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Final training dates will be confirmed during the interview process.

 

This role involves spending extended periods in the water, working in a warm and humid pool environment, and regular exposure to chlorinated water.
