He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Situated in our Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre, as a Casual Team Member – Recreation Assistant. No two days will be the same!
As part of this role, you will be responsible for supervising the rock-climbing wall to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants, supporting Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) activities, and assisting with the delivery of our engaging holiday programme. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you’ll help create memorable experiences for our community.
Applicants with the ability to work across Aquatics, Customer Support, or those willing to undertake training in these areas are encouraged to apply, as this flexibility is an asset to our team and programs.

You’ll already be passionate about sports and recreation, and ready to step into a frontline customer service role. It goes without saying that you’ll be responsible when it comes to working with children. You’ll have a flexible approach and be able to use your initiative to facilitate suitable programmes for kids. An enthusiastic team player, you’ll have a positive attitude and infectious energy and be committed to providing your customers with an exceptional experience.
Ideally, you’ll hold a First Aid Certificate and have an understanding of health and safety procedures. While previous experience working with children is beneficial, it’s not essential. Importantly, you’ll be committed to maintaining a high degree of professionalism in your work.

Pay rate: $28.95/hr
