Auckland Council Group Shared Services is going through an exciting change. We are moving technology into composable business components, updating aging technology to move forward into modern component systems with a strong focus on customer experience and data. Coupled with working across multiple entities to form shared services and collaborating for a stronger Auckland, this role provides the opportunity to change Auckland for the better.
We are looking for a forward-thinking, experienced Head of Architecture to lead this evolution across Group Shared Services. This pivotal role aligns technology initiatives with the Council’s Long-Term Plan and delivers innovative and sustainable solutions that serve our communities.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in leading enterprise-wide architectural change in a complex, multi-entity organisation
- Strong strategic leadership and the ability to translate long-term goals into actionable roadmaps
- Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or FEAF
- A collaborative and inclusive leadership style with experience leading diverse, high-performing teams
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to influence at all levels, including executive and external partners
- Proven ability to govern technology lifecycles, manage technical debt, and drive continuous improvement
- A commitment to honouring te Tiriti o Waitangi and contributing to Māori outcomes
You will be a passionate advocate for modern, secure, and scalable cloud and hybrid environments, and confident in delivering integration and data interoperability across systems. Your background will demonstrate the ability to balance technical rigour with business needs in an ever-evolving landscape.
