He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Auckland Unlimited (AUL) is a newly created council-controlled organisation (CCO) established with an important mandate to drive investment, supporting Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland businesses to innovate and thrive, enhancing Auckland as a culturally vibrant city, telling the Tāmaki Makaurau story, and importantly providing experiences and opportunities for all. 

 

Within Investment & Industry (I&I) ropu as we set out to deliver economic transformation by catalysing change using insights and strategic advice to create ‘future Auckland’, an exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced and highly motivated Head of Economic Transformation to join our team reporting through to the Director. This includes:

 

  • Champion an economic transformation programme that grows prosperity and resilience, particularly in south and west Auckland
  • Deliver economic intelligence, data and analysis for the Investment and Industry rōpū
  • Devise strategy across the Investment and Industry rōpū, aligned to the organisation strategy, to meet needs of Aucklanders and manage planning across the rōpū,
  • Ensure connectivity and collaboration across Auckland’s economic leaders, including iwi, corporates, tertiary, small business, and community.

 

This role will also be an internal connector, role modelling how the organisation should work across rōpū and ensuring a joined- up approach to economic development related activity.

You will have experience working with senior management and have had successfully been able to influence plans and decisions. 

 

Key skills/competencies

 

  • 15+ years of experience in similar roles
  • Experience in developmental and delivery of economic transformation programmes in different sectors
  • Proven experience in developing business strategy and planning
  • Experience with financial management systems and reporting
  • Proven ability and experience in working in an environment with complex stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in integrated project delivery across matrix managed environments, including environments and portfolio management
  • Proven leadership capability in people management and team leadership
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including being able to prepare clear reports and presentations to various stakeholders and audiences
  • Ability to build trust and strong partnerships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, often with different agendas
