He angitūtanga: The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Event Manager, with strong commercial capability, to join our Events Operations team on fixed term contract from the 1st of September 2022 until the 31st of March 2023.  


Reporting to the Event Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the full life-cycle and delivery of high profile events. This includes and is not limited to client enquiries, supplier, and stakeholder coordination, leading event-day delivery as well as the management of post-event wash ups. You'll also ensure that health and safety issues are identified and managed and all relevant client and stakeholders are debriefed to ensure the highest quality patron and client experience and satisfaction.
This role has ample variety; as the events you will be working on are large scale and range from major sporting events to international concerts. You will also manage Event Coordinators, event day casuals, volunteers and have oversight of all recoverable and non-recoverable expenses for events.
We engage with clients from the very beginning of the event planning phase, to coordinate event management plans, so you will need to be adept at listening and liaising with clients to offer your expertise and to problem solve when needed. You will work to develop an understanding of our clients' businesses, their industry and what their needs are, working closely with suppliers and service contractors to build partnerships that deliver high quality events.


He kōrero mōu: About you
You are an experienced Event Manager who can hit the ground running and will be able to demonstrate your ability to be proactive and contribute from day one. 


You will be confident, able to build rapport quickly and easily with clients and have a passion and patience for mentoring and empowering team members. Ideally, you will also have the following.


  • 5 years' large scale event management experience e.g. festivals or greenfield sites, sporting events
  • A qualification in event management or equivalent is desirable
  • Event management expertise in the live event, music, sport or production industry is preferred;
  • Experience utilising Ungerboeck (or similar) and understanding a P&L
  • Demonstrated evidence of networking relationships with both clients and suppliers
  • Contracting and freelancing event management experience will also be considered

In this role, you will be concurrently leading and managing multiple events at different stages of the project process across multiple venues, so you'll need to be excellent at multi-tasking, time management and coordination. You'll also need to be dynamic, flexible, adaptable and resilient in the face of a changing business environment. It goes without saying that your excellent communication will be a key to your success in this role.
