A fantastic 1 year secondment/fixed term opportunity has become available to join the Howick Local Board libraries as a Senior Libraries and Council Services Assistant based at Flat Bush Library in Ormiston Town Centre until early April 2027.

The role will focus on the needs of our diverse communities to develop partnerships, programmes and services and supporting digital literacy and equity.
You will have a passion about making a difference in the library and within the community and have a strong, people-focused and empathy-driven work ethic.
We have 3 secondment/fixed term part time positions at 30 hours each available.
The role requires flexibility to work across the Howick Local Board and public holidays.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate an ability to:
- Build and maintain relationships with local diverse and new communities
- Develop partnerships with various stakeholders
- Support diverse community needs and engage under-served parts of the local communities
- Work collaboratively with teams in the Howick Local Board, sharing skills, knowledge and expertise
- Provide exceptional customer service, including supporting customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources, navigating literacy and social vulnerability issues
- Keep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formats

Salary: This role is salary band E, we expect to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of around $77K depending upon skills & experience.
