Every day is different. You will help create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for customers while supporting our centres during one of the busiest times of the year.

Your main responsibilities will include:

•    Actively supervising the pool and surrounding areas to help visitors stay safe and have fun.

•    Interacting with customers, answering questions, and creating an inclusive and welcoming experience for everyone.

•    Promoting water safety and helping people understand pool rules in a friendly and positive way.

•    Responding calmly and confidently to first aid emergencies, incidents, and other situations when needed.

•    Helping keep the centre facilities clean, tidy, and ready for customers to enjoy.

We have several fixed-term seasonal opportunities available at Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre. 

Our centre operates from 5:30am to 9:00pm, so flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays is essential.

Rosters vary based on operational needs; you must be available for at least one weekend day. You may also occasionally be asked to cover sickness-related shifts, including 5:00am starts or 9:15pm finishes, so if you're reliable and ready to support the team where needed, we'd love to hear from you.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We are looking for people who:

•    Are strong, confident swimmers with excellent communication and customer service skills.

•    Are friendly, approachable team players who demonstrate initiative, professionalism, accountability, and good judgement.

•    Value diversity and inclusion, and are committed to health, safety, and delivering great outcomes.

To get started, you'll need to successfully complete a swim test, so please only apply if you can:

•    Swim 200m in under 6 minutes

•    Swim 25m using sidestroke

•    Swim 50m using breaststroke

•    Pick up an object from the bottom of the pool (max 5M depth)

•    Tread water for 5 minutes 

We'll provide and cover the cost of all training required to gain a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) and First Aid Certificate. Successful candidates will be required to attend either of the following training dates across Auckland CBD and West Wave, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm:

•    9 November 2026 to 20 November 2026

•    30 November 2026 to 11 December 2026

Salary rate: $29.90/hr. *Please note, our employer KiwiSaver contribution is additional to the base salary offered.
