Auckland's Libraries have a strong community focus and we are an extraordinary destination for the people of Auckland. Our Community Library Assistants play a vital part in our library team ensuring that our libraries provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none across the entire Auckland network.

 

The Maungakiekie-Tamaki Local Board libraries include Onehunga, Panmure and Glen Innes. Whilst this role is based at Onehunga, it does require flexibility to work across the local board as required. 

No two days are the same; the interactions and stories are as varied and interesting as the people we meet. You will be assisting customers with everything including accessing council services, navigating library databases, enjoying children’s programmes, troubleshooting digital queries, finding local event information, and what to read next.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be able to collaborate constructively with a range of teams and staff members, be prepared to support their service objectives and be able to take initiative appropriately when needed. Flexibility, adaptability, superb people skills, a willingness to learn, a passion for customer service and a can-do attitude are essential.
 
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
 
•    A flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and take up new opportunities
•    Confidence with technology and the ability to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices that are available at the library
•    Willingness to work with the library team in the delivery of programmes and events
•    Experience in working with children and young people
•    A flexible and collaborative approach to your work
•    Strong communication skills
•    Evidence of working with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds
•    Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

This role will be based in our Onehunga Library and is offering 22 hours per week, working Mondays, Fridays, Saturday and Sundays.
