He angitūtanga: The opportunity


Within the Howick Local Board area, this role is located at Highland Park a busy library situated right in the heart of the community.
We are a focused and committed team who takes pride in creating a world-class customer experience that is unique to our library.

This role provides a stimulating mix of customer service and community liaison. On a daily basis, you will be building, developing and maintaining relationships with local migrant communities. Being able to communicate in Mandarin in addition to English or Maori will be beneficial in helping you to identify service gaps for these communities. You will also be leading, promoting, evaluating and delivering multicultural and migrant programmes and events that fulfil the local board's work programme.


He kōrero mōu: About you


Your natural ability to relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds, excellent communication, along with strong digital and readers advisory skills is essential.

Leadership skills are integral to the role, as you will assist the Community Library Manager with the day-to-day operations within the library and undertake in-charge and supervisory responsibilities as required.

LIANZA registration is highly desirable along with previous experience working in libraries or related fields.

This is a permanent opportunity working 38 hours per week on a variable schedule that includes weekends and late nights. Our library is open seven days a week so flexibility is required. The current work schedule for this role is Sunday – Thursday.
