Auckland Council is seeking an experienced Corporate Facilities Manager to lead the operational management of a diverse portfolio of facilities across the South Region.
This is a critical role responsible for ensuring our facilities remain safe, compliant, operationally resilient, and fit for purpose. The portfolio includes corporate offices, local boards and a critical 24/7 operational facility where reliability, performance, and business continuity are paramount.
You will lead the delivery of facilities management services, asset maintenance programmes, contractor performance, compliance obligations, and asset planning activities, ensuring assets are managed effectively throughout their lifecycle. Working across a complex stakeholder environment, you will collaborate with operational teams, contractors, consultants, local boards, mana whenua, and senior leaders to deliver high-quality outcomes for Aucklanders.
This role is highly operational in nature and requires a Monday to Friday site presence across the portfolio , including participation in after-hours response and support for critical operational incidents when required.

- Facilities and asset management of Auckland Council's South Region corporate property portfolio.
- Manage a diverse range of facilities, including a critical 24/7 operational facility, ensuring assets remain safe, compliant, resilient, and available to support service delivery.
- Develop and implement maintenance and asset management plans that support long-term asset performance and sustainability.
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance programmes, asset renewals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage facilities management contracts and service providers, driving performance, accountability, and value-for-money outcomes.
- Monitor asset condition, manage operational risks, and support lifecycle planning to maximise asset performance and resilience.
- Support the delivery of capital works, refurbishment projects, and asset renewal programmes.
- Build strong and productive relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, local boards, mana whenua, and community partners.
- Provide leadership during operational incidents and support after-hours requirements when required.

You are an experienced facilities management professional who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder and contractor management skills.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant experience in facilities management, property operations, asset management, or a related discipline.
- Proven success managing complex facilities portfolios, ideally including critical or high-availability environments.
- Strong knowledge of asset management principles, lifecycle planning, maintenance strategies, and risk management practices.
- Experience delivering maintenance programmes, asset renewals, and contractor-led works.
- Technical understanding of building services, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and compliance systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing contracts, service providers, and operational budgets.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across a large organisation.
- Sound decision-making capability and the ability to balance operational priorities, customer needs, risk, and compliance requirements.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Experience within local government, infrastructure, healthcare, education, or other complex asset-intensive environments will be highly regarded.
