He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council’s Licensing and Compliance department has an opportunity for a Compliance Officer - Stormwater to join the Compliance team.

This is a critical role for Council and will focus on investigating and resolving stormwater-related compliance issues across Auckland. You’ll work on the frontline, responding to reports of non-compliance, carrying out site investigations and supporting customers to understand and meet their regulatory obligations.

You could expect to work on:

• Investigating stormwater compliance issues and requests for service across Auckland. 
• Carrying out site visits, gathering evidence and assessing potential breaches. 
• Providing advice and guidance to customers, businesses and other stakeholders on regulatory requirements. 
• Working with internal teams and external agencies to resolve complex compliance matters. 
• Taking appropriate enforcement action, including formal warnings, notices, fines and prosecution referrals where required.

He kōrero mōu: About you

This role requires experience in the compliance, regulatory, environmental or stormwater space. You will have experience in similar roles within large, complex organisations and be comfortable applying legislation and regulatory requirements to real-world situations.

We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:

• Experience in regulatory compliance, investigations or environmental monitoring.
• Knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Building Act and Local Government Act, or relevant regulatory legislation.
• Experience assessing potential breaches, gathering evidence and determining appropriate compliance action.
• Experience preparing investigation records, reports and enforcement documentation.
• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent regulatory experience, along with a current full New Zealand driver licence.

This role has a remuneration range of $76,160 – $89,600 per annum.
Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered.
