Embark on a journey with Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa New Zealand Maritime Museum.   Celebrating the connection between people and the sea, the team of passionate staff and volunteers share New Zealand’s history and inspirational stories through extensive galleries, exhibitions, programmes and on-water experiences. Sitting at the gateway of Auckland’s vibrant Viaduct Basin on Hobson Wharf, the museum is Auckland's primary CBD-based waterfront visitor attraction.  


We have a fantastic opportunity available for someone looking for part time hours (32 per week) to oversee and co-ordinate the ongoing delivery and development of the New Zealand Maritime Museum’s volunteer programme.

 

Our volunteers are integral to the Museum’s culture, visitor experience and general running of the organisation. These passionate ambassadors of New Zealand’s maritime story contribute to over 20,000 hours per year.


This is an interesting, varied role where you will be looking after volunteer recruitment as well as the induction, training, development and day-to-day management of our Volunteer Guides and Hosts, and the guided visitor tours.

He kōrero mōu: About you

 


Ideally you will bring 2+ years of previous experience managing and coordinating large numbers of people, preferably volunteers. You’ll have strong organisational skills, a natural at multi-tasking and are comfortable working autonomously.


Your outstanding communication skills and warm and approachable manner will be essential to working with this diverse group of staff and volunteers. You will also ideally have previous experience in recruiting and training people and have knowledge and understanding of volunteer management best practices.

Salary: $60,000k – $70,000k per annum, pro rata, based on skillset, qualifications, and experience.
