He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technician – Lighting & Staging to join our Technical Productions team.
In this hands-on role, you’ll assist in delivering high-quality technical services across a wide range of events—supporting Auckland Live and Conventions, and Tātaki Auckland Unlimited co-produced and presented events.
This is a permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week, but you may at times have the option to work additional hours), working across multiple iconic venues including The Civic, Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall, Bruce Mason Centre, and more.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Setting up and packing down lighting, rigging, and staging equipment across various venues
- Supporting live events such as concerts, musicals, dance productions, conferences, and large-scale civic events
- Collaborating with a skilled team of technicians to ensure events are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standard
- Engaging with clients, artists, and event organisers to ensure all technical requirements are met and expectations exceeded
- Maintaining and caring for technical equipment and infrastructure

He kōrero mōu: About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has:
- A qualification in Entertainment Technology or a related field (e.g. MAINZ, SAE, Unitec, NZ Arts School)
- At least 5 years’ experience in the live event or performing arts industry
- A strong understanding of theatre terminology, lighting systems, rigging, and staging practices
- Excellent teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
- A commitment to health and safety and delivering exceptional client service
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and varied hours as required
- A current driver’s licence
