He angitūtanga: The opportunity 

 

Joining the team as a Technical Training Specialist, you will work closely with the teams within Building Consents, providing technical advice and support to deliver successful, professional training programs and initiatives that support business needs, ensuring a positive customer experience. 


In this role, you will also work closely with building consents specialists and other training and development professionals, designing and delivering a range of courses – from a few hours to fully immersive 6-week courses. 


You'll also ensure that you are abreast of any changes to national and local legislation and regulations that could affect course content. Critically, you'll also be responsible for deploying updated information in a simple, easy-to-understand way to all appropriate teams and hubs across Auckland. You will be joining a team that is creative, collaborative, and has a key role in developing building surveyors nationally.

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

You are a Training Specialist with extensive technical knowledge in the field of building surveying or in the building control field. Ideally, you hold a tertiary qualification in building surveying or a similar technical qualification. You have a comprehensive understanding of the New Zealand Building Act, building code and associated regulations. This, combined with your background in education and training makes you a credible facilitator with the ability to easily draw on your own expertise.  


Your facilitation skills combined with your working knowledge of learning material authoring methodologies will mean you are comfortable coaching and training staff at all levels.  Your experience working with external training providers/institutes/universities will be valuable in researching specific topics and arranging technical training sessions. 


Your excellent communication skills combined with your appreciation of strong stakeholder relationships will ensure a strong focus on customer-centric delivery, providing first-rate customer service and training solutions. As this position may require you to travel around the region using Council vehicles, you’ll also hold a full, clean New Zealand driver’s license.
