Auckland Council's Pool and Leisure Centres help more people get active and support our goal of making Auckland the most active city in the world.

We're looking for a Team Member to join our Learn to Swim team. In this role, you'll help create positive experiences that encourage Aucklanders to stay active and healthy!

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a recognised swim teaching qualification while helping people build essential water safety and swimming skills. You'll create a fun, supportive, and safe environment for customers of all ages.

Join us in a permanent part-time (6 hours per week) role, working:

• Wednesdays 4:00pm-6:30pm
• Sundays 8:30-12:00pm

Please note, shifts may be subject to change and can vary based on operational needs. You may also occasionally be asked to cover sickness-related shifts, so if you're reliable and ready to support the team where needed, we'd love to hear from you. 

If you have a recognised swim teaching qualification or previous experience as a swimming instructor, that would be fantastic! However, we provide full, comprehensive training to help you succeed. You’ll also need to be willing to complete First Aid training. Successful candidates should be available to attend the training dates from 28 September - 9 October 2026 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm) at West Wave and Auckland CBD.

We are looking for people who:

• Are confident swimmers with excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Are friendly, approachable team players who demonstrate initiative, professionalism, accountability, and good judgement.
• Value diversity and inclusion, and are committed to health, safety, and delivering great outcomes.

This role involves spending extended periods in the water, working in a warm and humid pool environment, and regular exposure to chlorinated water. We share this information so you can make an informed decision about your application.

Salary rate: $29.90/hr. *Please also note, our employer KiwiSaver contribution is additional to the base salary offered.
