He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced and inclusive leader to head Auckland Council’s Kauri Dieback team and Plant Pathogens Programme. In this critical role, you’ll work collaboratively with stakeholders to protect our native flora from plant pathogens like kauri dieback and myrtle rust.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a team of six permanent staff and a range of seasonal staff to deliver integrated plant pathogen programmes.
- Drive best practices across council and stakeholder groups.
- Provide specialist advice and effective management strategies.
- Build strong relationships with mana whenua, national programmes, community groups, and landowners.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You are a proactive leader with:
- A Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biosecurity, or environmental science (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in biodiversity, biosecurity, or conservation.
- 3+ years in a line management role with proven team-building skills.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
- A full and clean NZ Drivers' License.
