We have a fantastic opportunity for an industry sharpshooter to manage Auckland Council’s participation in the Financial Assistance Package. 


This is a key role within our Building Consents department where you will be accountable for ensuring that our obligations in relation to the Financial Assistance Package process, are managed within expected timeframes and with the best interests of our Auckland ratepayers at the forefront. 


Reporting to the Premium Manager and managing a small team, you will maintain comprehensive files on all Financial Assistance Package claims for weathertightness. You will provide timely and accurate provision of all technical information necessary, for the effective management of these claims. 


Maintaining a complete overview of all previous and current Council building control processes and organisational practices end to end, you will utilise your comprehensive understanding of all building legislation, design standards and building materials particularly as it relates to buildings suffering from weather tightness and other building defects. 


He kōrero mōu: About you


You will demonstrate a background working in Building consents where you have gained extensive experience in the technical aspects of the building industry, ideally with a strong focus on weather tightness. You will bring proven experience in Quantity Surveying and Estimating and will exhibit a strong understanding of the technical challenges of watertight defects to ensure you are able to provide advice that is both technically accurate and addresses relevant legal issues. 


Relevant qualifications in Building or Quantity Surveying as well as good knowledge of the Building Act, Resource Management Act and the Local Government Act will be key here. Knowledge of business financials as well as understanding of the financial assistance package would be ideal. 


Attention to detail, coupled with excellent interpersonal and relationship skills will ensure you are able to work cross functionally with various groups, both internally and externally enhancing Auckland Council's reputation within the community.


A clean and current full driver’s license is also required in this role.
