Team Leader Operational Services

Auckland Zoo is a community-serving cultural organisation with a mission to ‘bring people together to build a future for wildlife’. Through science, learning & training, and strengthening our relationship with Te Ao Māori, we strive for excellence in animal care & welfare, conserve wildlife in the wild and nurture a lifelong connection with nature to enhance the well-being of our communities.

This hands-on leadership role actively manages Auckland Zoo’s Operational Services Team.

 

With responsibility for the delivery of Stores, Browse, Groundskeeping, and Hygiene Services, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and sustainable operation of the Zoo, supporting its world-class visitor experience and animal care standards.

 

This is your chance to join a values-driven organisation that is committed to conservation, innovation, and excellence in everything we do. You will report directly to the Zoo Facilities Manager and will have approximately 4-8 direct reports, depending on the team structure.

The role is 40 hours per week; however, this role requires flexible working, including some evening and weekend work, which may include public holidays as required to manage and deliver the role’s portfolio.

It is essential that you have or can attain a Full Manual Driver Licence and the desire to attain a site safe supervisor certification and heavy-duty vehicle licences.

 

In addition, we would like to see candidates with experience managing a team and have experience in operations, logistics, buildings or facilities and relevant tertiary studies (please still apply if you don’t have this).

Salary range: $80 – 90k per annum, based on skillset and experience.
