He angitūtanga | The Opportunity
This newly established role is central to supporting and growing our national network of Māori and Pasifika-owned businesses. As Supplier Lead, you will work in a team to grow the number and capability of Amotai suppliers, helping to position them for long-term success.
This is an opportunity to lead real systems change in procurement and supplier development, while working in a values-driven team committed to outcomes for whānau, hapū and iwi.
Te hiranga o tēnei mahi | Why this role matters
Aotearoa’s economy is changing, and Māori and Pasifika businesses are vital contributors to creating a more equitable economic landscape.
As Supplier Lead, you’ll play a vital role in growing and supporting this network — helping businesses become more visible, connected, and successful in accessing contract opportunities.
Our mahi turns supplier diversity from a goal into tangible, everyday impact. Through strong relationships, practical support, and leadership grounded in kaupapa Māori and Pacific values, you’ll champion a future where inclusive procurement is the norm. This role directly contributes to economic justice, regional resilience and long-term prosperity for Māori and Pasifika communities.
Responsibilities include:
• Attracting new businesses on to the Amotai directory
• Leading the delivery and continuous improvement of Māori and Pasifika business-focused services and tools
• Building and maintaining relationships with Māori and Pasifika businesses
• Identifying and removing barriers to success for businesses engaging in procurement opportunities
He kōrero mōu | About you
You bring strong leadership and experience in supplier engagement, business development, economic development and/or procurement. You thrive in relationship-based environments and are comfortable navigating cross-sector spaces — from hapū and iwi to government and large corporates.
You understand the challenges and aspirations of Māori and Pasifika-owned businesses and are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and kaupapa Māori principles. A relevant qualification is helpful but not essential — your lived experience, insight and drive are what matter most.
Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What we offer
At Amotai, you will be part of a passionate and forward-thinking team that is committed to creating real change in the New Zealand economy. You’ll work in a supportive, agile environment where your contributions will directly impact Amotai’s growth and success.
As part of the wider Auckland Council Group, you’ll gain access to many benefits and discounts, including discounted financial services and insurance, entertainment, lifestyle and more.
