Auckland Council’s Community Services & Development department has an opportunity for a Stakeholder Engagement Manager within the Development Response team. 


Reporting to the Development Response Manager you will play a key role in the transformation of Auckland’s city centre, providing consultative impact and engaging leadership to ensure that stakeholder management and community engagement processes consistently meet best practice expectations.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

  • Delivering our vision with clarity whilst overseeing and liaising the consultation, engagement and stakeholder management for our city centre projects
  • Foster a strong stakeholder engagement culture across the council through a change management approach incorporating quality advice, influence, facilitation and leading by example
  • Manage project teams and contractors to deliver agreed project outcomes, ensuring delivery KPIs and commitments are met
  • Drive a place-based overarching Stakeholder Engagement Strategy and work across council, CCOs and delivery agencies to deliver best practise integrated council whānau approach to engagement and stakeholder relationships

This role requires experience in similar consultative and engagement-based roles, with a sound understanding of governance departments, infrastructure and/or change projects. 


We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement community consultation and engagement programmes in a complex, high-scrutiny public sector environment
  • A degree in Communications or a related field and 5+ years relevant experience
  • Proven knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and an understanding of the unique political environment of Auckland Council
