You’ll be joining a team with a passion for getting people active through participation in play, sport and recreation. As a Sports Facilities Investment Advisor, we want you to develop and manage an investment programme which is delivered by the sport and recreation sector and established council partners including ngā mana whenua ō Tāmaki Makaurau. You’ll also be responsible for managing key relationships across council, ensuring an integrated and aligned approach to sports facilities investment.
This role will be worked flexibly between the office, home & the community.

This role is critical in bridging council’s investment into sports facilities with the needs of the sport and recreation sector. It brings to life council’s plans and policy for play, sport and recreation while using a diverse partnership approach to delivery. By working closely with the community and sector, this role programmes and advises the best approach to deliver value for money through targeted investment.
Ngā kawenga matua: Key responsibilities
- Define sports facility provision gaps and identify areas where an increase in provision will reach communities of greatest need in the short to medium term
- Work collaboratively with Regional Sports Organisations and Trusts, codes and clubs to align council’s facility investment with sector plans and strategy
- Build and manage key relationships, including leading in the early engagement with mana whenua partners on sports facility investment programmes

- Build and manage strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
- Provide high-quality investment advice using complex data and insights.
- Develop, manage, and monitor sport and recreation investment programmes.
- Work collaboratively with mana whenua, mataawaka, and sector partners.
- Support value-for-money investment across the sports facilities network.
