Come aboard for this senior position, assisting Auckland Council in creating a Tāmaki Makaurau where all people are active and well.

 

Provide strategic oversight, policy analysis, programming and specialist advice on the development of sports facility provision across Tāmaki Makaurau.

 

Work closely with sports organisations, aligning their needs with council's plans, strategies, and policies.

 

Help us ensure we reach communities who need us most.

 

Become the ‘go-to’ subject matter expert in sports facilities and services while developing excellent customer experience and building stakeholder relationships.

 

In this role, you will:

  • design and manage a programme which outlines council’s investment to meet the growth and demand for sports services and facilities
  • develop a portfolio view and specialist knowledge of sports facilities supply and need
  • provide strategic and political advice regarding the future use of sports services and facilities
  • lead in working community sports groups and stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for Aucklanders

He kōrero mōu: About you

You’ll have relevant experience in programme design and stakeholder engagement, as well as demonstrable technical knowledge in sports facility development.

 

Ideal Experience

  • Minimum of eight years in a senior advisory/programme management in the sport and recreation sector or relevant field
  • Experience in strategy development, delivery, analysis and implementation
  • Experience in project management and business disciplines such as report writing
  • Experience in designing/leading programmes which have a significant impact on communities

Idea candidates will have

  • knowledge of the sport and recreation sector, an understanding of the benefits of facility provision and the challenges for delivering facilities across Tāmaki Makaurau
  • strong analytical skills and the ability to translate and prioritise strategy and policy into workable programmes
  • strong relationship development and management skills, especially with Māori and diverse communities of greatest needs
  • excellent level of written and oral communication skills and a high level of computer literacy

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required in a relevant field (e.g. sports, leisure, recreation, parks etc.)
