Support Aucklanders to live healthy, active, lives by joining us as a Sport and Recreation Lead.
We are looking to fill one permanent, full-time position, based at 135 Albert Street, focussing on a portfolio of local boards within Auckland. We are a small, busy, tight-knit team looking for a new team-member to join the mission to deliver a fit for purpose, future proofed, facility network for sport and recreation.

Aucklander’s love to be physically active and participate in all manner of sports and recreation activities. Auckland Council is the largest provider and funder of parks, open spaces and facilities for sport and active recreation. In this role, you will provide advice and manage grant-funding that directly impacts the network of facilities that support Auckland’s participation in sport and recreation.
Ngā kawenga matua: Key responsibilities
- Influence the development of Auckland’s sport and recreation facilities in a strategic manner.
- Advise elected members, council staff, and community groups on facility planning and development.
- Support the allocation and management of local and regional grant funding for facility projects.
- Deliver expert guidance to ensure projects align with Auckland’s future facility network needs.

He kōrero mōu: About you
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions using professional judgement
- Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Receptive to working in an agile and collaborative team environment
- Experience working in a relevant capital development, planning or project management role
- Experience in the facilitation of multi-stakeholder projects
- Knowledge of the Auckland/NZ sport and recreation sector
