He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We work closely with local boards and our communities to develop services and spaces that enhance the lives of Aucklanders. As a Service and Asset Planner you’ll make a significant contribution towards this. We are busy developing Portfolio Plans for each local board. These plans will provide advice for local boards to decide how they best manage their local service asset portfolios. You will undertake research, source and analyse a wide range of information, and assist in developing advice that will shape our communities now and in the future.
The role sits within the Policy, Planning and Governance directorate. Our team advises our decision-makers on where and how the organisation needs to provide community services and facilities.
You will work collaboratively across multiple departments, directorates, and the wider council family to ensure there is alignment in our advice and recommendations. Your analytical, communication and facilitation skills will be key to this role as well as your ability to build and maintain relationships.
He kōrero mōu: About you
We are looking for a focused and dynamic person with interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others as well as on their own. To thrive in our team you’ll be a critical thinker, pro-active, understand how good research leads to good advice, and feel comfortable questioning the status quo.
You will have a strong customer service ethic and an interest in community outcomes. Having the ability to think strategically, understand interdependencies, and be able to write in way that is engaging and easily understood is essential to the role.
Ideally, you are excited by the opportunity to work in a team with a people first approach, a collaborative culture, and that celebrates diversity.

We believe that diversity is a strength and by embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion this allows us to build a dynamic team. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
We offer a flexible working schedule, long service leave, learning and development opportunities, as well as access to other benefits.
If this sounds like the perfect role for you, but you don’t quite match all the stated job requirements, please tell us in your own words how your skills or competences would support the team.
