He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland’s water quality is at the forefront of everyone’s mind and we need a champion that will be responsible for designing new stormwater assets to meet Healthy Waters objectives and other key stakeholder objectives.  As part of our Healthy Waters Design Office, you’ll work in a team of subject matter experts, delivering high quality analysis, design and specification of complex stormwater projects - working across and gaining exposure to multiple projects at different stages.   

Working collaboratively with other parts of Council, you’ll also get involved with projects outside of your core role, such as contributing to draft guidance documents like GD01 or the Stormwater Code of Practice or working with other internal design resources like the Landscape Architecture team to provide stormwater design for community park upgrades.  This role has no direct reports but there is lots of scope to coach and mentor our design and delivery graduates.

This is an exciting opportunity to have a varied and diverse role within design, with increased ownership and input into the end to end design process and asset lifecycle.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We’d like to hear from experienced stormwater design engineers with preferred experience in three waters infrastructure design that are looking to move into a senior position and/or develop your career in stormwater design. You’ll have proven experience of undertaking designs as an independent or lead practitioner, as well as contract management and construction monitoring. As this role involves partnering with key internal and external stakeholders, you’re a natural collaborator with proven relationship and stakeholder management skills and the ability to work independently.

You’ll have a minimum of 5 years’ experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering.   with preferred Chartered or professional registration status (or working towards), and membership of a relevant professional body e.g. ENZ.  Please discuss the key skills you have and how they relate to this role in your cover letter.
