Senior Stakeholder and Engagement Manager

Date: 25-Nov-2021

Location: Central Auckland, NZ, 1010

Company: Auckland Council

Auckland is maturing into a world-class city one that reflects the changing way we use our city. From better public spaces to connected communities, to a stronger focus on enjoying our beautiful natural environment, Tāmaki Makaurau will be a city for all Aucklanders.

As the City Centre Programmes team in Auckland Council’s Development Programme Office, we are bringing to life the City Centre Masterplan – helping to transform Auckland’s city centre into a place that reflects who we are as Aucklanders, a place for all people to enjoy, where business and cultural expression thrive, and a place for future generations.

Auckland’s city centre is experiencing an unprecedented level of development from the public and private sectors, delivering billions of dollars worth of investment over the next few years. Significant investment in new public spaces and street enhancements is helping create a vibrant city centre.

Due to this significant growth, our team is expanding and has a number of new roles to fill.

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Overseeing consultation, engagement and stakeholder management in the city centre, you will build trust, confidence and support for the city centre’s ongoing transformation.

Working across the wider council whanau and delivery agencies, you will drive a joined-up, place-based stakeholder management strategy, facilitate effective consultation and representation of community perspectives in projects and programmes, and act as principal advisor to senior and executive leaders across the council group.

You’ll be joining us at an exciting time – our recent transformation of the waterfront area into a place Aucklanders can be proud of demonstrates the value of investing in well-designed spaces for people. We’ve now turned our focus to midtown, where regeneration will create a vibrant city centre of civic and cultural life in Tamaki Makaurau, connected by world-class transport. You’ll get to work on projects in iconic Auckland destinations such as Queen Street, and the new Victoria Street linear park Te Hā Noa, as we transform midtown to create a vibrant and prosperous precinct.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will have demonstrated the ability to design and implement community consultation and engagement programmes in a complex, high-scrutiny public sector environment. You’ll have a strong track record of excellent relationship management and political acumen, and an understanding of the Auckland Council political environment.

You recognise that Te Ao Māori and our Māori communities should contribute significantly and meaningfully in the current reshaping of Tāmaki Makaurau.

You have a passion for our city and its future potential, and empathy for our diverse customers and stakeholders as we progress the transformational change.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

You will be at the heart of the vibrant and exciting placemaking and activation programme and the wider city centre transformation programme with the mandate and tools to make a meaningful impact.

You will be working for an organisation that embraces diversity and has a culture built on trust and valuing individual contributions. We offer a competitive salary; flexible working and you get to work with a team of dedicated and respected experts who share a passion for making a difference.

We want to make Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) great, so we won’t just settle for good. It’s time to step up as our region grows, open our minds, and develop new ways of working. This is a time of massive opportunity. Bring your talents and experience and be part of our ever-changing skyline. So come and join us - we know you'll be challenged and inspired!
