He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

If you are knowledgeable and experienced in protecting and restoring indigenous fauna and habitats, we are looking for a Senior Regional Advisor (Fauna), to join our Specialist Advice team to support Auckland Council’s biodiversity work programmes. This is a great opportunity to guide efforts to improve the precious and unique wildlife and habitats of Tāmaki Makaurau for current and future generations.

 

The role sits within a high-performing team of biodiversity and biosecurity specialists and will focus on providing specialist fauna advice to the Environmental Services Department, wider Council and external partners. You will also be involved in planning, supporting and delivering operational plans and projects. In this influential role, which combines research, policy, field and office work, you will be working to protect and enhance some of the most threatened and interesting native species and their habitats across Tāmaki Makaurau.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

We are looking for someone with at least 10 years’ experience in the conservation sector with specific expertise in indigenous fauna and habitat management. You will work alongside our technical specialists, other conservation agencies and partners to advocate for, influence and support indigenous fauna and biodiversity protection and management across public and private land in the region. You will have a demonstrated ability in project management, in writing and disseminating technical and scientific reports, have strong written and oral communication skills, and be proficient in data management and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  You will have excellent knowledge of the fauna of Tāmaki Makaurau and be willing and able to mentor others.
