Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters & Flood Resilience department has an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager (known internally as a Senior Healthy Waters Specialist) within the Storm Readiness Team. Reporting to the Manager Storm Readiness Delivery, you will be responsible for managing the planning, design and construction of a portfolio of stormwater-related infrastructure projects.
Please note: This role is safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment drug testing.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop project briefs and business cases
- Procure and manage external suppliers and internal specialists for the design and construction of projects
- Act as “Client’s Representative” on professional services contracts and “Principal’s Representative” on NZS 3910 construction contracts
- Manage project risks and provide regular progress reporting to senior management and elected members
- Enhance council’s reputation by always behaving in a professional and collaborative manner
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Work with Healthy Waters and Flood Resilience’ operational and planning staff, other council departments and other members of the council family - Watercare Services, Auckland Transport and others - to achieve great outcomes for Auckland

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires experience in similar project management or engineering roles, with a sound understanding of contract and administration management.
We will be looking for specific experience with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil and/or Environmental) or equivalent experience
- Membership in a relevant professional body or progress toward full membership.
- Project management qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Site safety and safety in design experience.
- Minimum 7+ years' experience in three waters infrastructure sector, with 2 years in stormwater delivery.
- Familiarity with local government and political environments.
