He angitūtanga: The opportunity


The Auckland city centre is experiencing an unprecedented level of construction from the public and private sectors, delivering billions of dollars’ worth of investment over the next few years.  Significant investment in new public spaces and street enhancements is helping create a vibrant city centre.


Reporting to the Manager Delivery Programmes within Auckland Council’s Development Programme Office (DPO), you will contribute to the transformation of the city centre through supporting the effective coordination of significant work programmes involving both public and private investment, managing interface risks and opportunities.  You’ll also manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver public realm capital projects within programmes.  


You will get immense satisfaction from being involved in exciting city centre developments such as the Victoria Street Linear Park and the development of new work programmes within the city centre, including the Karangahape Road precinct.


You will build strong working relationships and key contacts across the DPO, Auckland Council Group and the private sector.  
 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you


You are a seasoned Project/Programme Manager with a background and tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as engineering, project management, construction or architecture.  You have led significant and complex capital works projects and/or renewals programmes end to end from initiation through to construction, including making high value budgetary and financial management decisions. 


You are willing to develop and build your own confidence and capability to contribute to the department’s Māori Responsiveness Plan and wider organisation’s vision to be a treaty-responsive organisation.

 

You are politically savvy and can naturally walk the fine line of influencing and driving results with your stakeholders while maintaining and enhancing positive relationships.  You are confident in your ability to manage multiple consultant design teams.

A strong strategic thinker, you are able to logically navigate through complex problems and deliver under pressure. We will value your ability to see the big picture while at the same time being organised, systematic and detailed in your approach. 
 

Given that this is a senior role, we would expect you to have completed training or certification in project/programme management and be a member of a relevant professional association such as project management, planning, engineering, or architecture.
