Auckland Council's Maungakiekie-Tāmaki local board office has an opportunity for a permanent full-time Senior Local Board Advisor to join the team. This role is based in Panmure and Three Kings with some flexibility to work from home. The successful candidate will report directly to the Local Area Manager.
As a Senior Advisor, you will develop, source and tailor strategic advice while progressing the more complex and challenging local board issues. The advisory and governance service provided by the Senior Local Board Advisor is wide‐ranging, spanning all of Auckland Council’s activities, engagement with external agencies and community engagement.
You could expect to work on:
• Development & coordination of local board feedback related to regional strategies and plans
• Leading content development of Local Board plans and agreements
• Support the Local Area Manager with political guidance and governance advice
• Attend local board meetings, workshops and agenda run-throughs as required
He kōrero mōu: About you
Providing strategic advice and influencing stakeholders is at the heart of this role. You will be politically savvy with the acumen to work amongst elected members, other local boards and local communities. To be successful in this role you may have experience in large, complex and potentially political organisations.
You will work with a dedicated team however the ability to demonstrate self-motivation with a high degree of initiative is key.
This role requires the ability to manage and prioritise significant workloads, allocate and manage work programme delivery, and balance competing demands.
We are specifically looking for:
• Tertiary qualification such as public policy, public management, humanities, finance, or law; or relative industry experience
• Strong background in governance or a related field
