Shaping Spaces for Aucklanders to Love

Eke Panuku’s Design team, is looking for Senior Landscape Architects to provide inspired expert design input and advice into our Development Auckland’s programme of work. Our mission is to rejuvenate urban Auckland – from small projects that refresh a site or building, to major transformations of town centres or neighbourhoods. We use under-performing land and buildings that Auckland Council owns, attract private investment and together we unlock their potential to create spaces for Aucklanders' love.

He angitūtanga: The opportunity
If creating better places for people and improving our environment through landscape architecture and place-led design is what gets you up in the morning, then this role could be the role for you!
Your role will entail supporting the organisation's public realm programme. This will range from tactical urbanism projects to large-scale complex projects across town centres and waterfronts across urban Auckland. The role will involve producing street and public space reference design, producing briefs, procuring consultants and managing design teams for projects, and providing oversight of external design production.

While this is an exciting role, it is no walk in the park, as you will also review development and infrastructure proposals from external parties for design quality, write formal advice and negotiate particular outcomes plus supporting high-quality design outcomes including advocacy for design, innovation, and sustainability. You will enable projects that are place-led and meet the needs of our diverse communities.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You have the ability to work with autonomy in a dynamic environment within multiple project teams. The projects and operating environment require a proactive approach, anticipating issues, strong communication and influencing skills, and a willingness to lead and provide direction. You are an all-rounder when it comes to strong communication skills, which are a must as you will work cross-functionally and require strength in building productive working relationships with staff of all backgrounds and professional disciplines.

You will also utilise your relationship-building skills with external stakeholders such as Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, and other CCOs relevant to Panuku Development Auckland projects, as well as Local Boards, Iwi, and other non-Council family organisations. It is expected that you will have a Landscape Architecture degree ideally with a second qualification in urban design or significant vocational experience and/or strong project management experience. You have a minimum of 5 years of work experience on public realm design projects seeing projects from strategic visioning, through concept design to completion.

You have good working knowledge in the best practice public realm and sustainable design practices. Experience working within both consultancy and public sector environments as well as working with mana whenua will be preferable.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer
This is an exciting time for Eke Panuku as we build and change urban Auckland and create spaces Aucklanders love! Working with us will place you in the hub of activity and provide you with the opportunity to shape your city and make a huge visible difference to Auckland. You will be joining a team and organisation of motivated professionals, all working towards the same vision. We have competitive salaries and can offer a range of flexible working practices.

If you have the necessary skills and experience and want to be part of the team changing Auckland, then apply via the link.

NB: Please also attach your portfolio, as we would love to see some of the amazing work you have already achieved!

Applications close 14th of February 2022

Please note that while we will be assessing applications as they are received, interviews will likely not take place until the New Year and there may be no follow up correspondence until after Monday, 10th January 2022
