We are currently seeking two Senior Civil / Environmental Engineers to join our Design Office team.

As the largest team of stormwater specialists in New Zealand, the Healthy Waters department offers a unique opportunity to advance your career in stormwater management while gaining valuable experience in the Local Government sector. In your role as a Senior Healthy Waters Specialist in the Design Office, you will become an integral member of a select team of highly skilled stormwater engineers dedicated to implementing and shaping industry best practices across Tāmaki Makaurau. 

This role offers a remarkable opportunity to witness your designs evolve from concept to real-world implementation, as you work through both the design and construction phases. Our portfolio of work encompasses a wide range of stormwater projects, including blue/green infrastructure, civil engineering, stream daylighting and stream restoration projects. Given our substantial forward works programme, we can customise projects to expedite your career growth and equip you with the relevant experience needed to attain Chartership. 

 

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Leading the development of stormwater design solutions that prioritise quality, practicality, and sustainability.
  • Overseeing the construction of stormwater projects, taking on the role of Engineer's Representative.
  • Conducting reviews, offering expert advice, and providing guidance on stormwater management across Tāmaki Makaurau.
  • Delivering exemplary customer service to both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Cultivating a friendly, safe, and collaborative work environment that values and respects the contributions of all team members.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role demands experience in similar positions, with a solid understanding of stormwater management. We are seeking candidates with specific expertise in:

  • Professional civil and/or environmental engineering
  • Leadership in design processes and project delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adaptability to navigate through changes effectively

 

You will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil / Environmental) or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • 8+ years experience in three waters infrastructure design, preferably with a focus on stormwater design.
  • Registered or chartered status, or membership of a relevant professional body, or working towards either.
  • Experience in use of AutoCAD, Civil3D or equivalent, and Microsoft Office applications.

 

Please note:

  • This role is internally referred to as Senior Healthy Waters Specialist
  • A full and clean NZ drivers’ licence is required for this role.
