He angitūtanga: The opportunity
 
Our Infrastructure and Environmental Services Division has an important opportunity for a geotechnical engineer to join our team.  Be at the forefront of creating better geotechnical solutions, undertaking geotechnical design and improving geotechnical standards!

 

Your role will initially focus on using your geotechnical expertise to support Auckland’s recovery from the extreme weather events over the past year.  

 

You will establish and maintain relationships with key service providers and other areas across the council family to provide geotechnical support and design advice, including engineering design where appropriate. You will also assist with responding to "one off" geotechnical events such as landslides as required, including the provision of relevant advice.
 
We will value your ability and interest in maintaining the currency of your technical and industry knowledge as you will assist with the geotechnical elements of technical guidance documents for use across the civil engineering industry in Auckland.  This presents you with the opportunity to positively influence geotechnical discipline in Auckland!

You thrive working in a dynamic environment and being part of multiple project teams. The projects and operating environment require a proactive approach, a natural ability to anticipate issues, strong communication, influencing and leadership skills.  
 
With a bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering or a relevant field, your work experience in consultancy or the public sector focuses on geotechnical design, reviews and project management.
 
You have a good working knowledge of best practice and sustainable design practices. 

 

We are looking for a strong collaborator who builds effective working relationships with people of all backgrounds and professional disciplines.
